Things to do in Lake Placid

Hop in one of the tubes and hold on for the ride of your life! As you rocket down the 90-meter ski jump landing hill, you’ll find out why so many visitors come to Lake Placid in spring and summer! Of all the things to do in Lake Placid, we recommend the Olympic Jumping Complex because you won’t find high-speed summer tubing anywhere else! If you’re looking for something mellower, ride up the historic Whiteface Veterans’ Memorial Highway. Which take you to the peak of one of New York’s highest peak. At the top, be sure to check out the Castle Café and Gift Shop for a local bite and souvenirs, and of course the spectacular view! A visit to the Adirondacks is not complete without a trip to this peak. However, be sure to wear proper footwear to climb the trail, as it can be steep and slippery, please note it is one of the activities included with your purchase of an Olympic Sites Passport.

Mountain Biking in Lake Placid

The Beaver Brook Trail System in Wilmington Wild Forest has become a premier destination for mountain bikers in the Adirondacks. But what many don’t know that this trail system is also a  great destination for trail runners. Now that spring is upon us; we can get out and enjoy some warm weather things to do in Lake Placid, like mountain biking or running, through mud courses or dirt tracks. The 5-miles of terrain spread out over eight different trails. Each different from one another, giving you plenty of option to make several different loops while covering all the trails. The choices are almost endless with aggressive trails, like ascending the Twisted Pines or the Good Luck traverse,  some more moderate trails like Double Time or Safe Bet. There also is an introductory trail called Coniferous, for beginners, or to warm up. These trails can also challenge runners, with sharp turns and fluctuating terrain.
