When going on vacation with a group, it can be challenging to find activities that appeal to everyone. However, no matter your age, swimming is a quintessential vacation activity that most love. Swimming offers something for everyone, whether you want to lounge poolside, swim laps, or simply splash around, making it one of the most versatile activities one can experience in Lake Placid.

The Best Places to Go Swimming in Lake Placid

There is no shortage of swimming holes for you and your family to enjoy a refreshing dip near Lake Placid. To help you set you on your way toward wet and wild fun, the team at Whiteface Lodge has created a helpful guide on the best places to swim in the Lake Placid area.

Whiteface Lodge

We’re biased, but we don’t think there’s a better place to go swimming in Lake Placid than Whiteface Lodge. At Whiteface Lodge, our guests enjoy a luxury swimming experience all year-round. Our large pool gives you the best of both worlds: both indoor and outdoor swimming. The pool is heated to approximately 85 degrees, offering a warm oasis even during the chilly winter months. We also have two hot tubs outdoors, ideal for relaxing after a long day exploring Lake Placid.

Our indoor pool area also has a hot tub. Whether you’d rather swim indoors or outdoors, we have you covered. Don’t worry about bringing a towel; we provide all our guests with towels for convenience. There are no lifeguards on duty, so guests must be 18 years old or supervised by an adult to use the pool.

Lake Placid Public Beach

If you’re looking for a beach to swim at, look no further than Lake Placid Public Beach. Located in downtown Lake Placid on Mirror Lake, this sandy beach is a great place for swimming, kayaking, picnicking, and more. The beach has lifeguards on duty when in-season. However, while Lake Placid Public Beach has a lot to offer, it is only open in the warmer months; Mirror Lake freezes in the wintertime.

Shoebox Falls

Shoebox Falls is perhaps the most unique swimming spot in the Lake Placid area. This swimming hole feels like a hidden gem. Located off of Route 73, Shoebox Falls requires a short walk, but it’s worth the trip. Visitors are treated to gorgeous scenery, including Shoebox Falls, which feeds water into the swimming area. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and a great place for a swim.
