It may be getting colder, but that means that the holidays are just around the corner! Start a new tradition and travel to Lake Placid for some holiday cheer. A Lake Placid tradition is the Holiday Village Stroll, December 8th through the 10th. It is ideal for families and couples for a weekend chock full of events, entertainment, parties, dining specials, and shopping!
Friday night at 5 pm join in on the fun and glide to the skating party in the 1932 Arena home of the Winter Olympics. Bring your skates or rent a pair. Show off your moves or take some time to get used to your skates. However, make sure you look out for Santa skating by! Then at 7:30 take a stroll through town and enjoy music at participating locations.
Saturday wake up and get your workout in at the Jingle Bell Run/Walk at the Village Beach at 8:30 or cheer on your loved ones as the run past! Then head back to The Whiteface Lodge and enjoy breakfast at the Kanu Dining Room. From 9 am to 3 pm check out the craft and vendor fair at the Adirondack Community Church and shop till you drop. Look for stocking stuffers or the perfect gift for your loved ones. Then at noon Santa will arrive by a fire truck at Mid’s Park with complimentary hot chocolate and holiday music. Bring your camera because this is the perfect holiday card opportunity. From noon to 3 pm enjoy crafts such as children’s holiday crafts and creating your holiday greeting cards at participating locations. At 2:30 indulge in the soup, chili, and chowder tasting on Main Street. Taste a few and vote for the best one. End the night Mid’s Park for the annual tree lighting and musical performances.
On Sunday dress up as Santa and hit the slopes. From 8:30 am to 4 pm enjoy the special holiday stroll offer at Whiteface Mountain. Dress up as Santa for the day and enjoy a free lift ticket. Also if you bring a coat to donate you will get a buy one, get one free lift tickets for the day!
