Every winter, skiers flock to Lake Placid to enjoy premier skiing opportunities. Here, riders ski in the footsteps, or perhaps more appropriately, ski tracks, of Olympians and world-renowned professionals. It’s a truly magical experience and is highly recommended to everyone visiting Lake Placid.

If you’ve forgotten your skis or don’t have any to begin with but still want to hit the slopes, you’re in luck. Lake Placid is home to several ski rental companies that will help you get on the runs quickly. The team at the Whiteface Lodge is happy to point you in the right direction; here’s our guide on ski rentals in the Lake Placid area.

Lake Placid Ski and Board

Located just five minutes from the Whiteface Lodge, Lake Placid Ski and Board is a go-to spot for everything skiing and snowboarding. Here, you’ll find all sorts of equipment available for purchase and rent. One of the best things about Lake Placid Ski and Board is that they have various rental options available. Whether you need a ski rental for a day or for the whole season, Lake Placid Ski and Board has you covered.

High Peaks Cyclery Mountain Adventures

Right down the road from Lake Placid Ski and Board on Main Street is High Peaks Cyclery Mountain Adventures. In the spring and summer, High Peaks Cyclery is all about cycling. However, when the snow starts to fall, their focus turns to winter sports. They specialize in both nordic and alpine ski rentals, something other Lake Placid ski rentals companies don’t always offer.

Cunningham’s Ski Barn

Another Main Street staple, Cunningham’s Ski Barn is the oldest ski shop in North America. This family business has been serving the Adirondacks since 1934; they are deeply familiar with the area and have all kinds of tips and tricks to help you make the most of your Lake Placid ski trip. Their best value is their ski package, which includes all of the ski gear you need, bundled at a low price.

Rossignol Experience Center

If you’re skiing in Lake Placid, the odds are good that you’re heading to Whiteface Mountain. Conveniently, you can rent ski equipment at Whiteface Mountain at the Rossignol Experience Center. They have ski rentals available for all skill levels. You can rent for a half-day or full-day. If you need your equipment a little longer, you can rent for additional days at an extra cost.
