What is Santa’s Workshop?

Santa’s Workshop is a Christmas theme park in Wilmington, just a short drive from Lake Placid. Inspired by the story of Santa, this park has been delighting visitors with holiday cheer since it opened its doors in 1949. 

Unlike other theme parks, Santa’s Workshop is designed for small children. Their attractions are geared to children 48 inches and smaller. However, the young at heart will enjoy a trip to Santa’s Workshop as well. Santa’s Workshop is open on select days in the summer, fall, and winter

What to Expect at Santa’s Workshop

You’re probably wondering what you can expect when you visit Santa’s Workshop. There’s quite a lot to see and do, but perhaps the biggest attraction is the live shows. Santa’s Workshop offers six live shows: Nativity Pageant, Christmas Capers, Santa’s Proclamation, Santa Claus Parade, Story Time, and North Pole Jamboree. These shows are all Christmas-themed and are put on by Santa’s friends and helpers. Keep in mind, at the time of this writing, the show schedule is limited due to COVID-19.

In addition to the live shows, Santa’s Workshop also has several rides and attractions. There’s a train that takes riders over the river and through the woods. The Ferris wheel is another popular attraction; this miniature-sized Ferris wheel is less than 20 feet high. There’s also a Christmas Carousel, which is decorated with 20 hand-crafted reindeer. 

Finally, you can stroll through the village. Here, you’ll see Santa’s house, the reindeer bar, a delicious bakeshop, Santa’s toy shop, and more. It’s impossible not to feel a little merry as you explore this cute little holiday village.
