What to Bring
There are a few items you’ll want to have with you when hiking the Adirondacks during your stay! A camera, binoculars, and a field guide as three top items for your backpack. Having a camera with, whether it’s a DSLR or your phone, will help you capture images of what you see. They also allow you to create memories that will last a lifetime when you take photos of those you’re with among the wide selection of wildlife you’re sure to see.
Binoculars are two telescopes that when used together allow the viewer to see an object much closer than it technically would be. These are optimal when spotting birds or other wildlife that you won’t be able to see immediately on the forest floor. You can pick up a pair of binoculars at any local sporting goods store.
For another sporting goods store find you will want to have a field guide with you during your hike. Whether it’s a book on mushrooms, trees, animals, or anything you’re interested in, field guides help people identify what they are seeing. Most of these books will let you know what species you could be viewing due to the images and detailed text!
