What is Whiteface Oktoberfest?

Whiteface Oktoberfest is an annual two-day event, typically falling on the first Saturday and Sunday of October at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid. Oktoberfest was originally a wedding celebration dating back to the early 1800s, featuring multiple days of drinking, feasting, and horse races. It became an annual event, which is now celebrated today all over the world.

Whiteface Oktoberfest continues many of the traditions of the original event, though horse racing isn’t a part of this festival. At Whiteface Oktoberfest, expect to enjoy beer, food, and live music authentic to the Bavarian culture. You will likely spot people decked out in traditional Bavarian clothing, such as lederhosen, another way to get in on the fun at this cultural festival.

Is Whiteface Oktoberfest a Family-Friendly Event?

All ages are welcome at Whiteface Oktoberfest. However, it is important to be mindful that drinking is a major component of this event, so if you don’t want your children around drinking, it is better to skip it. Still, the live music, delicious food, and arts and crafts at the event provide fun for the whole family.

Tickets to Whiteface Oktoberfest

Attendees must pay to get into Whiteface Oktoberfest. There are several ticket options available, including one-day, two-day, and gondola ride passes.
