Children’s Programs at Whiteface Lodge
Whiteface Lodge is a premier Lake Placid family resort, offering a signature complimentary children’s program, Kamp Kanu. This on-site adventure camp is perfect for guests to enjoy during their stay, ensuring kids will have a blast and that their parents can get away and have some fun of their own.

After Labor Day we offer weekend Kamp Kanu for children ages 3-10: Saturday morning session runs from 10am – 12pm and the afternoon session runs 1pm – 3pm.
A box lunch will also be available for an additional fee of $12 from 12 pm – 1 pm. Sunday we offer morning session only from 10am – 12pm.
We offer extended Kamp Kanu schedule during holiday periods. Please contact Concierge for details.
Summer Kamp Kanu (Last weekend in June through Labor Day weekend)
Kamp Kanu is a complimentary children’s program offered seven days a week during the summer months for children ages 3-14. Morning session for ages 3-10 runs 9:30am – 12pm and afternoon session runs 1pm – 3:30pm. A box lunch will also be available for additional fee of $12 from 1 pm – pm. Kids will make new friends and play indoors and outdoors, with each program being led by highly qualified and trained counselors. The schedule changes daily and offers something for every child.
Sample activities include: games, relays & races, tag games, obstacle courses, orienteering, treasure hunts, spy games and more. Indoor activities include scavenger hunts, games, arts & crafts, storytelling, science experiments, movies, Wii, and more. Children ages 11-14 will participate in a full day program, between 9:30am and 3:30pm, a $15 lunch is provided. This group will adventure off the property and will go hiking, canoeing and kayaking. This program will be cancelled in case of inclement weather.
Kamp Kanu Policies: Please note this is a drop off program. Due to NYS Childcare Requirements, Kamp Kanu must have a minimum of two participants in order to run. The program will be cancelled if only one child is enrolled.
Children must be potty trained and self sufficient in going to the restroom. Participants must follow the rules and keep up with the group. We reserves the rights (and this is for all ages) to call the parents if child is not cooperating. Child will have to be picked up immediately and most likely will be removed from KK for the rest of their stay.
If you wish to add the lunch option for your children, the cost is $12 per lunch. The lunch form needs to be filled out upon dropping children off at the camp. If children will not be eating lunch at camp, parents must pick them up and make other arrangement between 12 PM and 1 PM. If the children are not attending morning session but wish to attend the lunch hour a form must be completed with concierge by 9:30am the day of the program.
Cancellation Policy: If you wish to cancel your child’s participation in Kamp Kanu please notify concierge or front desk at the very latest by 9 AM the morning of. Failure to do so will result in removal from all remaining Kamp Kanu reservations. To cancel please contact Front Desk or Concierge.
In addition to Kamp Kanu, we also offer an evening program for children, Sunset Club, designed to offer parents the opportunity to enjoy a fine dining experience in KANU Restaurant while their children simultaneously enjoy a pizza dinner and an evening of fun themed activities and games. Sunset Club is offered 6pm – 9pm for children ages 5-10. The cost is $30 for the first child, $20 for the second, and $10 for each additional sibling per family.
The Sunset Club program runs Friday and Saturday evenings and holiday periods throughout the year, and daily during the Summer beginning the last weekend in June until Labor Day. We offer a babysitter referral service. The sitters are well known to us and citizens in good standing. They range from senior high school students to mothers and grandmothers. We do our utmost to accommodate your preferences, if any. The fee is $20 per hour paid in cash directly to the sitter. There is a 3 hour minimum.
Cancellations within 24 hours will incur a $60 charge to the suite. We would appreciate as much advance notice as possible if you would like us to secure a sitter for your children.
