THE WHITEFACE LODGE PROMOTES PHILLIP SMITH TO EXECUTIVE CHEF
LAKE PLACID, NY (June 6, 2007) - Phillip Smith has been promoted to Executive Chef at The Whiteface Lodge, a 94-suite luxury resort and private residence club located in scenic Lake Placid, New York. In his new position, Smith will be responsible for menu development and kitchen staff at The Whiteface Lodge.
Smith’s promotion stems from his two years as Executive Sous Chef at the property where he assisted Executive Chef Brian Moyers.
“We are proud to promote local talent,” said Olivier Bottois, Chief Operating Officer, The Whiteface Lodge. “Having lived in Lake Placid for many years, Chef Smith completely understands the needs of our clientele and is able to create culinary dishes with a sense of place.”
Smith brings a total of 27 years of culinary excellence to The Whiteface Lodge. Prior to joining the resort in 2005, Smith served visitors and residents of Lake Placid while cooking at the Hilton Lake Placid Resort and Mirror Lake Inn.
He began his career as Lead Line Cook at Snowbird Ski Resort in Snowbird, UT in 1990. From there, he held positions at the 200-room SunBurst Resort in Scottsdale, AZ and was also an “on location” Independent Chef Contractor in the television/motion picture industry. Smith held management positions at the Mountain Oasis Restaurant in Flagstaff, AZ, at Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge in Sedona, AZ and at the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook, NY.
Smith received an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts and Sciences/Restaurant Management from Scottsdale Culinary Institute in Scottsdale, AZ. He resides in Lake Placid, NY.
