KANU TO RETURN TO THE WHITEFACE LODGE
Signature Restaurant to Bring New Contemporary Dining Experience to Lake Placid
LAKE PLACID, NY (May 15, 2008) - The Whiteface Lodge today announced that the resort's signature restaurant, Kanu, will reopen Memorial Day weekend. Kanu replaces the 'Steak & Stinger,' which operated at The Whiteface Lodge since September 2007 under the guidance of consulting chef Moses "Red" LaFountaine.
Under the Kanu brand, which is exclusive to The Whiteface Lodge, the restaurant will offer a new seasonal dining menu and expanded dessert menu highlighted by locally grown, organic ingredients and North American game and fish to create contemporary culinary concepts. Providing a fine dining experience in a dramatic setting, guests can enjoy Kanu's unique menu in a rustic yet sophisticated atmosphere with soaring 28-foot roof-lines, six majestic granite fireplaces, and hand-hewn log beams.
"The return of Kanu to The Whiteface Lodge symbolizes a return to the resort's own unique roots," said Steve O'Hern, Food and Beverage Director of The Whiteface Lodge. "Kanu will provide resort guests as well as visitors to Lake Placid a contemporary menu set within the beauty, style and grandeur of an Adirondack great camp that will entice them to return each season to savor Kanu's fine dining and wine parings."
"Although the Steak & Stinger was a local favorite, new management has chosen to return to the Kanu concept to better serve owners and guests," said LaFountaine. "I appreciated the opportunity to participate at the Whiteface Lodge and with its talented staff. I want to thank all of the former and new Steak & Stinger clients for their support in the endeavor."
In addition to the opening of Kanu, The Whiteface Lodge will begin offering a new menu in the resort's lounge, "The Explorer's Club." This will provide guests with dining choices and lighter fare options for those looking for a more casual dining experience.
